Comic-Con in San Diego is currently underway this week, and one of the biggest movie panels to appear so far has been the entire cast of "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn: Part 2," the finale of the hit series.
Robert Pattinson, who plays the male lead as vampire Edward Cullen, discussed at Comic-Con who strange it was to become a father in the film. In "Breaking Dawn," Cullen and wife Bella end up becoming parents after an unexpected pregnancy shortly after their honeymoon. Soon after, they have a daughter, Renesmee, played by Mackenzie Foy.
"For Edward, he kind of just started to relax in ['Breaking Dawn - Part 1'], and also, he's a father. I have an 11-year-old kid in this. It's completely different; he's like an adult," Pattinson told MTV News on Thursday. "It's really strange, and it's kind of hitting me at this period [in my life] when I'm thinking, 'Oh, I'm not a kid anymore,' when I'm playing it, so it's a strange experience, suddenly making that transition to playing fathers of 11-year-olds. I've been playing a 17-year-old for five years."
"The Twilight Saga," when it began production around five years ago, was one of the first American projects British-born-and-raised Pattinson had taken on, and he admitted he was afraid of the major transition.
"I was incredibly insecure at the beginning," Pattinson continued in the MTV interview. "I had never done an American movie before, and everyone was more experienced than me pretty much - even the people who hadn't done anything seemed more experienced than me - so, yeah, it felt very foreign to everyone, but it's changed as it's gone on," he said. "These are the people I've known for the longest in L.A."
Pattinson was joined by costars Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner, Nikki Reid, Ashley Greene, Jackson Rathbone, Kellan Lutz, Peter Facinelli, Elizabeth Reaser, Foy, Maggie Grance, Valorie Curry, Patrick Brennan, Erik Odom, Noel Fisher, Mia Maestro, Tracey Heggins, Lisa Howard, Judi Shekoni, and author Stephenie Meyer during the panel discussing at Comic-Con's famous Hall H on Thursday.
"The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2" is set to hit theatres this November.
