Robert Pattinson, best known for portraying vampire Edward Cullen in "The Twilight Saga," said he would be interested in taking on the role of famous super-spy James Bond after gaining 20 years of experience as an actor, he told U.K.'s The Sun.
Pattinson would love to play Bond, who is currently being portrayed by Daniel Craig for the franchise, with the latest installment, "Skyfall," coming this November, but feels he would need to work two more decades to become a good enough actor for the role.
"Yeah, I'd definitely like to go for Bond, but in more like 20 years," Pattinson told The Sun. "There'd be nothing worse than, like, 'Let's get a fresh-faced Bond!' That would be the worst idea in the world. It would be ridiculous to reinvent it as some young posh kid.''
Pattinson continued that after Craig's brutish turn as Bond, he would need to up his game in terms of violence and personal baggage.
''After Daniel Craig you have to have some baggage," Pattinson said. "I'd have to be tortured in the first few scenes. I'd have to do the first film with one arm or something.''
Pattinson's latest feature, prior to the final installment of "The Twilight Saga" called "Breaking Dawn: Part 2," is the drama "Cosmopolis," which he said he took on because he found the story to be "ridiculous."
''I think the script was so bizarre, we thought it was quite funny it was even getting made," Pattinson told The Sun. "Literally it's totally ridiculous.''
Pattinson, who is currently seeing on-screen love interest Kristen Stewart in real life, as well, told The Sun that at the age of 26, he became more health-conscious.
''I think 26 is the turning point. I've got to make up for 10 years of living like a degenerate. I've suddenly become conscious of being unhealthy," Pattinson said. ''You've spent every bit of free time since the age of 15 in a pub. And suddenly you're like: 'Oh God, I don't want to be this grey ghost sitting there with a pot belly. I've got to get it together'.''
