InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) announced the opening of Holiday Inn Express hotel in Yopal, Columbia.
The new hotel has 89 rooms and located 200 miles from Bogota. It is also near four major international oil refineries and situated to meet the travelers around the area.
IHG Regional vice-president for Distribution and Commercial Marketing in Mexico, Latin America and Caribbean, Gerardo Murray, said, “Yopal has experienced a significant increase in business travelers due to the recent boom in the local oil industry, and the Holiday Inn Express brand is ideal to meet the growing demand of these travelers.”
Murray said that the locationa is convenient for leisure travelers as it's near restaurants, convenience stores, and local attractions.
Columbia has 10 IHG hotels, together with the Holiday Inn Express that is located in Yopal. There are still seven more hotels that are under development pipeline, including Barranquilla, Bogotá, Cartagena and Cucuta.
IHG chief operating officer for Latin America and Caribbean, Americas, Alvaro Diago said, “It is very exciting to expand IHG's Holiday Inn Express brand in new cities.”
“IHG already has a vast portfolio of internationally recognized brands in Colombia, and opening this hotel in Yopal is in line with IHG's growth strategy in the country,” said Diago.
IHG invested $1 billion on Holiday Inn Portfolio for the brand's global relaunch, to meet the standard of every guest as Holiday Inn Express is known to be one the fast-growing and largest hotel brand.
