Manny Pacquiao Floyd Mayweather fight discussions have been revived after the Filipino boxer's dominating victory against Chris Algier last weekend at Macau. In previous talks, Mayweather once indicated that he won't fight Pacquiao because the latter is already out of form. That showed in Manny's loss to Manuel Marquez and 'questionable' victory in rematch with Timothy Bradley. However, after fans saw how Pacquiao overwhelmed Algieri, talks of the Manny Pacquiao Floyd Mayweather fight intensified.
The Filipino fighter's camp are positive that the gigantic bout will happen. However, on the other end, one is yet to speak out. According to Top Rank CEO Bob Arum, all that is needed to make the Manny Pacquiao Floyd Mayweather fight happen is a phone call from the Money himself.
"To answer the telephone. Simple as that," Arum answered when asked what would it take to make the Manny Pacquiao Floyd Mayweather fight happen.
"I think that fight should happen. I think the boxing fans deserve that fight. if boxing is to be considered a major sport, the fight has to happen and all the nonsense has to cease.
Now, it seems the boxing world is now closer to the highly anticipated Manny Pacquiao Floyd Mayweather fight. PacMan's trainer, Freddie Roach, claims Floyd's camp has already made contact.
'My understanding is that Floyd is insisting on the rematch if Manny beats him, which I believe he will. That's okay with us,' And why not, given the huge amount of money which would be involved?" Roach said according to the Daily Mail's Jeff Powell.
The rematch clause is not really a bad thing. It is not another dodging by Mayweather. If what Roach said is true, the condition that Mayweather asks is actually a treat. Not just one but two Manny Pacquiao Floyd Mayweather fights. That is PacMan wins.
Also, this condition indicates only one thing. Mayweather is probably not that confident anymore on his chances against Manny Pacquiao.
Hopefully, the Manny Pacquiao Floyd Mayweather fight will materialize. This is what boxing demands and it would be a shame not to see this generation's best fighters square off in the ring.
