China has been known for its high tech security equipments but now, this Asian giant has been home for new promising smartphone makers. Xiaomi and OnePlus are the top Chinese tech firms that are now seen as Apple and Samsung's worthy rivals.
With equally stunning design and exceptional tech advance features, Xiaomi was able to be the "miracle" as it became the third most popular smartphone make behind the Cupertino-based and Korea-based giants. OnePlus, on the other hand, received positive raves for its exclusive and limited handset creations. So to be able to know these two China-based firms, here is a comparison between their recent releases, Xiaomi Mi 4 and One Plus One.
Both smartphones feature stylish façade. While Mi 4 is a rectangular handset with flat back panel styled with aluminum frame, One has slightly curved exterior that has chrome trimmed lip around its display. Size wise, Xiaomi's handset is smaller at 139.2 x 68.5 x 8.9 mm compared to OnePlus' 152.9 x 75.9 x 8.9 mm dimension.
Xiaomi Mi 4 is also lighter compared to OnePlus One at 149 grams versus 162 grams. The Shenzhen-based private mobile company, on the other hand, sports the better Corning Gorilla Glass 3 that makes its screen more protected compared to Xiaomi.
Display wise, OnePlus One has the bigger screen at 5.5-inch while Xiaomi Mi 4 sports 5.0-inch only. Both devices have 1080 x 1920 pixels that makes Mi 4 a sharper phone with 441 ppi compared to One's 401 ppi. In terms of memory, both handsets have 16 to 64 GB internal memory options.
In terms of performance, OnePlus and the Beijing-based company made smartphones with the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor clocked at 2.5 GHz. Mi 4 and One also has the same Adreno 330 GPU and Android 4.4 Kitkat operating system. Both devices also have 3GB RAM.
The two high end devices also share the same 13MP main camera and 2160 at 30 fps video capturing capability. Xiaomi Mi 4, on the other hand, is a more selfie-friendly device with its 8MP front facing camera as compared to OnePlus One's 5MP selfie snapper.
Oneplus One also has a better 3100 mAh battery but the two are both powered by non-removable power juicer. In terms of price, OnePlus One is more affordable with its 16GB option at $299 and 64GB variant at $349. Xiaomi, on the other hand, offers Mi 4 16GB at $324 and its 64GB at $389.
