Smokey Bones Bar & Fire Grill announced that they will launch their second annual "Burger Battle" cooking and eating contest across the country on June 27th to win a $2,500 cash prize.
The fast food chain will host the contest from 7:00 - 10:00pm local time at participating Smokey Bones Bar & Fire Grill restaurants, which will have three separate rounds of elimination to choose an overall regional and nationwide winner, said a press release issued by the restaurant chain on Wednesday.
Regional winners, for each store branch, will get a $200 gift certificate towards purchases at Smokey Bones Bar & Fire Grill, and the overall national grand prize winner will get the $2,500 cash prize. All participants who did not win will get a $5 gift card to use towards a future purchase at Smokey Bones Bar & Fire Grill. The contest will run at Smokey Bones Bar & Fire Grill's 66 locations spread out throughout 17 states, said the press release.
Anyone interested in taking part must pay a $10 fee for entry, and part of the money made from the "Burger Battle" will go to fund the nonprofit organization Home for Our Troops, organized to help assist wounded war veterans, noted the press release.
The first two rounds will consist of participants, of which a maximum of 40 will be allowed for each store, where they can "build-a-burger menu," stated the press release, and create a half-pound burger in the first round, with the choice of a brisket or pulled pork topping in addition to a cold topping, hot topping, cheese and specialty sauce. After the burger is created and cooked, the participant will have to eat their food in the fastest time frame in order to move on to the second round.
The second round will be similar to the same, but the final ten contestants must create a one-pound burger, which they will then try to eat in the fastest time in order to win the prize, said the press release. After all the times are tabulated, whoever ate their burger in the fastest time will get the grand prize.
