The Barilla pasta brand announced that it released its new line of microwaveable single-serving meals that are ready-to-eat in 60 seconds.

Various flavors will be available for the microwaveable meals, which will cost around $3.29 for a 9-oz. package, said Barilla in a press release issued no Monday. The types include: Mezze Penn with Traditional Marinara Sauce; Mezze Penne with Tomato and Basil Sauce; Mezze Penn with Spicy Marinara Sauce; Whole Grain Fusilli with Vegetable Marinara Sauce; and Whole Grain Mezze Penne with Tomato and Basil Sauce, listed the press release.

"Developed with busy professionals in mind, Barilla microwaveable meals are shelf stable so you can throw them into your bag on your way out the door, or keep a supply in your desk drawer," Giannella Alvarez, president of Barilla America, said for the press release. "We wanted to reinvent shelf stable meals with product superiority and quality ingredients that are all natural and have no preservatives. This way, a delicious and nutritious meal is conveniently available anytime and anywhere."

The microwaveable meals, said the press release, will be made with 100 percent natural ingredients, no preservatives, will contain around 10g to 11g of protein, and are a good source of fiber. The two whole grain varieties also have an additional healthy amount of iron contained in it.

"Barilla's microwaveable meals provide the healthy nutrition people are looking for, all with 320 calories or less," Anna Rosales, nutrition manager for Barilla America, was quoted as stating for the press release.

The microwaveable meals are the latest products of the brand, which was established in 1877 as a pasta and bread shop in Parma, Italy, said the press release, and expanded to become a worldwide past-selling corporation with production sites in Italy and all around the globe.

The Barilla microwaveable meals will be available in major supermarkets and retailers across the United States, including Albertsons, Giant Foods, Jewel-Osco, Kroger, Publix, Safeway, Stop & Shop, Target and Walmart, listed the press release.
