Tropical Smoothie Café announced that as part of its annual National Flip Flop Day this week, it will give away free 24-oz. smoothies and help benefit its charity partner, Camp Sunshine.
National Flip Flop Day falls on Friday, June 15th, and for those customers who head to a Tropical Smoothie Café anywhere in the U.S. between 2:00 - 7:00pm local time that day, wearing flip flops, will get a free 24-oz. of the Jetty Punch-flavored smoothie, said the company in a press release issued on Monday.
Tropical Smoothie Café created National Flip Flop Day in 2006 to help benefit its national charity partner, Camp Sunshine, which addresses the issue of life-threatening diseases that affect all members of the family, including children and parents. Tropical Smoothie Café, according to the press release, has helped brought in over $1 million to aid Camp Sunshine since its opening.
"National Flip Flop Day is about giving back to our customers for their generosity in helping to bring a little bit of hope, happiness and healing to these children and their families facing life-threatening illnesses," Mike Rotondo, COO, Tropical Smoothie Café, said for the press release.
Tropical Smoothie Café also set up various other ways, as part of National Flip Flop Day, for consumers to donate to Camp Sunshine, including purchasing a specially designed key fob, said the press release, where proceeds would go to the charity and which would include a 10 percent discount on a future visit to the smoothie store. Money can also be donated at the shops, on their website or Facebook page, or by texting "Camp" to their mobile phones to 20222 to donate $20, noted the press release.
"We are honored by how much Tropical Smoothie Cafe and its customers have embraced Camp Sunshine with their commitment and passion for what we do," Matthew M. Hoidal, Esq., executive director of Camp Sunshine, was quoted as stating for the press release. "We thank Tropical Smoothie Cafe for assisting us in spreading the word about Camp Sunshine and for helping deserving families benefit through relaxation and support at camp."
