Jack Daniel's announced that it would team up with the USO to bring the "Toast to the Troops" campaign to Navy Pier Chicago, and send out 10,000 care packages to military servicemen and women defending the U.S. overseas, and host a concert with singer Craig Morgan.
A "Stuffing Party" will take place on June 18th in Chicago to fill 10,000 Operation USO Care Packages to troops overseas, said a press release issued by Jack Daniel Distillery on Friday. A group of volunteers will be on hand to stuff the majority of the packages, and Jack Daniel's are asking the public to assist and stuff a personalized bag to the troops - all of which will include a special message to those overseas, called a "toast."
"We're so proud of our troops and their families and hope everyone will come out, sign a toast card and stuff their care package in honor of these heroes," Jennifer Powell, Senior Brand Manager for Jack Daniel's, said for the press release.
Over 160,000 Operation USO Care Packages have been sent out to troops since the "Toast of the Troops" initiative began in 2005, said the press release, via 15 different stuffing events. Navy Pier Chicago will be the second military-based venue to host the event.
"This initiative is exciting for the USO of Illinois, as the Chicagoland community comes together to help deliver a touch of home from the heartland to wherever our troops are serving around the world," Alison Ruble, President & COO of USO of Illinois stated for the press release . "We are especially excited to welcome Craig Morgan who has not only served so honorably in uniform, but embodies the true spirit of patriotism that we hold so dear."
Also set to participate in "Toast for the Troops" will be veteran and country singer Craig Morgan, who will perform at an exclusive concert at the East End Plaza of the pier at 7:00pm local time on June 18th. Those interested in attending must act fast, as seating will be limited, and a free wristband must be acquired from the USO Navy Pier Center starting Friday, June 8th, said the press release, as a first-come, first-serve service.
"Even though more and more of our troops are coming home, there are still thousands serving our nation overseas and in harm's way," Morgan commented for the press release. "We want them to know that they have our unconditional love and support, and sending them a Care Package with a special message of support means a lot. I know - I've been there."
