Hunting for hotel is not an easy task as it will take you forever with a lot of options to consider. Airfarewatchdog.com, a site owned by TripAdvisor, launched Hotelwatchdog, a site that provides a better way to book a room that filters numbers of lodging choices into 20.
During the launch announcement of Hotelwatchdog, known to be an extension of the airfare site, the company promises "No more drowning in thousands of options."
Hotelwatchdog tracks hotels' past prices down to a 45-day average and offers a fast comparison to the quote of the whole stay. Online travel agencies and hotel specific booking sites provide the price data.
Airwatchdog President George Hobica said, "Whenever I look for a hotel stay, the first thing I do is filter out low ratings on TripAdvisor. And then I filter out hotels in inconvenient locations. And then I filter for price.
"Just as Airfarewatchdog.com only lists airfares with a high value quotient, Hotelwatchdog does the same thing for hotels," said Hobica.
Most travelers are motivated mainly by price, location and reviews from other travelers as what TripAdvisor executives presume.
Lack of transparency makes it difficult to tell if the offer is one of the best that is available for any given property. Airfare prices are almost transparent when compared to hotel prices and can be different across websites and even devices.
The possible mishap may come from hotel reviews and the degree of faith that is includes in the 190 million reviews at TripAdvisor.
The Boston-based company spun-off from Expedia during a public offering in 2011. TripAdvisor also operates two dozen websites that are related to travel.
TripAdvisor is known as the world's largest travel site that enables travelers to plan and obtain a perfect trip. The site offers trusted advice form travelers from a wide variety of travel features with smooth links to booking tools.
