Jiffy Lube confirmed that the youngest franchise store owner for their corporation was 23-year-old Miles Blauvelt of Baltimore, Md., who recently took on the role of head of the shop previously owned by his father.
Blauvelt was recorded as the youngest franchise owner to date, when ownership duties were signed over to him at the MAB Lube, LLC store in Baltimore, said a press release issued by Jiffy Lube on Tuesday.
Blauvelt began work at Jiffy Lube at the age of 16, when he first worked for his father's Delta Lube Jiffy Lube franchise store, and worked through summer holidays while earning his business degree at the University of Maryland, College Park, said the press release. Blauvelt was previous in a managerial position before becoming an owner of the store.
"I am thrilled to carry on the family tradition by taking over the business that my father worked so hard to build," Blauvelt stated for the press release. "From customer service to logistical operations, Jiffy Lube has an established reputation in the industry that is supported by a strong franchise program. I hope we continue to keep Jiffy Lube in our family for generations to come."
There are over 2,000 Jiffy Lube locations, as independently-owned franchise stores, across North America, noted the press release, since its opening in 1979 when the company was a head in the fast oil change industry during car races.
"We are excited to welcome Miles Blauvelt into our growing system of service centers," Barry Wood, director, market optimization, was quoted as saying for the press release. "Miles exemplifies the passion and professionalism that Jiffy Lube seeks in all of its franchisees and we are confident that he will be extremely successful."
