Arm & Hammer brands announced on Tuesday that it would launch its "Tag a Cat, Save a Life" initiative for the third year running to help support the tagging of animals so they won't get lost or stray.
The makers of Arm & Hammer Cat Litter, Church and Dwight, set up the program as a means to educate pet owners and consumers alike about how tagging could save pets' lives, said the company in a press release issued on Tuesday. Church and Dwight will also be providing donations to shelters in the United States, and hand out personalized identification tags to pets' owners for their cats.
"At Church & Dwight we are dedicated to helping cat owners keep their pets safe by providing personalized ID tags for the third year in a row," Rithika Naik, product manager, Church & Dwight, Co., Inc, was quoted as stating for the press release. "Through 'Tag a Cat, Save a Life' we aim to educate all cat owners that a visible ID tag is not only safe, but it is invaluable in facilitating a lost cat's return home."
The "Tag a Cat, Save a Life" program launches in June, also known as Adopt-a-Cat month, said the press release, and those cat owners who adopt a new cat anytime during the month will receive a free personalized identification tag for their pet. Free pet IDs can also be obtained by mailing proofs-of-purchase on Arm & Hammer cat litter varieties, said the press release.
Various shelters taking part in "Tag a Cat, Save a Life" included, listed the press release: Animal Friends, Pittsburgh, Pa.; Animal Haven, New York, N.Y.; Pets are Worth Saving (PAWS), Atlanta, Decatur, Ga.; PAWS Chicago, Chicago, Ill.; Pennsylvania Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (PSPCA), Philadelphia, Pa.; and SAVE, Princeton, N.J.
Animal lovers and pet owners who like the official Arm & Hammer Facebook page will also assist in the cause where the company will make a donation to the shelters aforementioned with each 'Like' received to the social media page, through July 15th or 100,000 lbs. of food, said the press release.
