The Jeep brand announced on Thursday that it will be launching a contest for basketball fans to create a new USA Basketball-themed 2012 Jeep Wrangler in association with their global partnership with the sports organization, started in April.
The contest, called "Power by Design," will take place online, according to a press release issued by Chrysler Group LLC, Jeep's parent company, and fans can customize anything on the vehicle, including wheels and color schemes.
The competition also features, said the press release, a "Key to Power," where participants can play an online version of a free-throw contest in order to unlock more customizable components for their Jeep Wrangler model.
The winner of the contest, set to run from May 25 - June 20, 2012, will be chosen at the end of June, and the winning Jeep Wrangler will be displayed at a Jeep - USA Basketball exhibition game in Washington, D.C. to take place later this year. They will also be invited to the exhibition in the U.S. capitol, and become the owner of the customized Jeep vehicle they created with USA Basketball design cues, noted the press release.
"The Jeep brand is exited to offer one lucky winner a trip to attend an amazing event and also a Jeep Wrangler that is truly one-of-a-kind," Mike Manley, President and CEO - Jeep Brand, Chrysler Group LLC, stated for the press release. "Power by Design gives consumers an opportunity to be original, creative and a part the Jeep brand's unique partnership with USA Basketball. This contest is another great way for customers to connect with the Jeep brand as they show us how they would customize their Wrangle."
Participants interested in competing must only enter once online to be admitted, and can choose and alter a variety of aesthetic pieces of the Jeep Wrangler, including wheel and tire packages, addition and subtraction of decals, and their personal color preferences, listed the press release. Once the final version of the automobile has been created online by the entrant, they can share their vision via social media websites Facebook and Twitter.
Jeep Wrangler was named the "Official Vehicle of USA Basketball" when it joined with the organization last month to support the men's and women's national teams, said the press release.
