| By

Finally after years of speculation, news on "Sandman" movie 2016 adaptation has been revealed online.

Author Neil Gaiman talks about Joseph-Gordon Levitt, production details and release date even though DC has not included this story of Morpheus in its list of movies.

While news on the film adaptation of the Neil Gaiman comic published by DC comics has been floating since the 90s, the development of this "Sandman" movie 2016 has had its fair share of ups and downs. Numerous scripts have been made yet not only Neil Gaiman has been disappointed by the outcome, but also thousands and thousands of fans worldwide. Neil Gaiman even commented on the Warner Bros. "Sandman" movie script saying "not only the worst 'Sandman' script I've ever seen, but quite easily the worst script I've ever read", reported Science Fiction World.

It is not until recently that developments to the story of Morpheus in the adaptation of Neil Gaiman's "Sandman" has actually progressed-bringing in an actor to play the lead role, member of the endless, Morpheus. This is where Joseph Gordon-Levitt comes in.

Early in August, news that actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt is taking on the role of Morpheus in Neil Gaiman's "Sandman" movie 2016 surfaced online.

Neil Gaiman himself talks about the involvement of Joseph Gordon-Levitt in the production of his beloved "Sandman" adaptation. He says early this year, "Joseph Gordon-Levitt, of all people, is an enormous 'Sandman' fan. He and David Goyer talked about it, they've come up, I believe, with a treatment of what they want the story of the first movie to be."

Updated news before Neil Gaiman's "Sandman" movie release date reveals that while the film isn't listed among DC upcoming movies, the release date for this adaptation has been set. Neil Gaiman's "Sandman" movie starring Joseph Gordon Levitt release date is set for December 2016.

Neil Gaiman explains this further on his blog saying, "It's not a DC Comics film. It's a Vertigo film. That's a different slate of films, and a different announcement.
