MillerCoors announced that several cities will participate in a Miller64 Treadmill run to promote and fund the beer brand's Step Up For Charity effort, where participants will try for a goal of $64,000 towards Soles4Souls, a Nashville-based non-profit organization providing footwear to the less fortunate.
The event is schedule to take place in four cities across the United States - Austin, TX; Chicago, Ill.; Las Vegas, NV; and Miami, Fla. - on Monday, June 4, where consumers of the 21-years drinking age will be invited to walk, jog, run, or even skip on the treadmill for charity, according to a press release issued by MillerCoors on Wednesday.
"We know our drinkers are committed to making good choices, be it with their professional responsibilities or in their social lives - and what better choice than taking a few minutes to help a good cause," Rita Patel, Miller64 marketing director, stated for the press release. "Even better, it's happening on our favorite day of the year - 6/4! The Miller64 Step Up for Charity event is a way for people to show they don't mind working up a sweat for Soles4Souls."
To further enhance the workout and charity experience, celebrity athletes will be attending each of the four venues. Former NBA San Antonio Spurs player and current ESPN analyst is set to headline the Las Vegas leg of the event, from 4:00 - 8:00pm PST at the Flamingo Hotel. NBA point guard T.J. Ford, stated the press release, will host the Miller64 Treadmill event in Austin from 4:30 - 8:30pm central time at the Fourth St. and Congress Blvd. Los Angeles Lakers former star Rick Fox will be in Chicago signing autographs and meeting with locals at the Thompson Center from 3:00 - 7:00pm central local time. Finally, Jamal Mashburn, formerly of the Miami Heat, will head to the Bayfront Park in the Florida city to help participants from 4:30 - 8:30pm eastern standard time.
"Miller64 has created a fun and impactful program that provides people across the country the opportunity to get involved in our mission of ending poverty," Keith Woodley, chief development officer at Soles4Souls, was quoted as saying for the press release. "We are thrilled to be working with Miller64 on this one-of-a-kind program that, with our ability to provide one pair of shoes for every $1 donated, will allow us to provide 64,000 pairs of shoes to those who need them most."
