The Strain Season 2 Release Date, Spoiler Update: West Wing Star Ron Canada Set For A Recurring Role

| By

A new character is set to join The Strain in its second season. West Wing star Ron Canada has been cast for a recurring role for the Strain Season 2 which still has no release date yet. The show ended on October 5 and started filming this month. Reports say it will return by summer of 2015.

This new The Strain Season 2 spoiler was first revealed by TV Line in a post by Matt Webb Mitovich. It wrote:

"In addition to the recurring role of the crisis-bungling NYC mayor (to be played by West Wing alum Ron Canada, right), the FX drama is looking to add a series regular in the form of David, an 11-year-old boy who, as the strain spreads, must make a very difficult decision regarding his parents."

So it is not just Canada that will be added in the Strain Season 2. There is also a boy who will find himself in the same predicament as Mia Maestro's Dr. Nora Martinez. As you can recall from last season, Dr. Martinez was forced to kill her mother who has been infected by virus that turns people into blood-sucking vampires. The same cannot be said on Corey Stoll's Dr. Ephraim Goodweather who spared his ex-wife's 'life' after finding out that she, too, has already been infected. Fans will have to wait for more The Strain Season 2 spoilers though to know who will play David.

As of today, things that have been confirmed so far for the Strain Season 2 is the arrival of more creatures and Dr. Martinez toughening up after that horrific moment where she killed her mother.

"I'm going to be shooting a creature unit, the action unit, and I'm going to be shooting the Mexican luchador footage, the black-and-white footage that appears in the series," series director Guillermo said of the Strain Season 2 during an interview with Comic Book Resources' Spin-off.
