Leading up to the opening of the FedEx 400 Benefiting Autism Speaks, Walmart stores across the Dover, Del. area will offer authentic NASCAR merchandise, see world-famous racers, and take part in fan events beginning Wednesday, May 30th, the company announced Tuesday.
The events are scheduled to take place from May 30 - June 2, 2012 from timings ranging from 11:00am to 7:00pm EST at select Walmart stores across Delaware's capital city. Customers who attend will get the chance to see racecar driver Darrell Waltrip, along with show cfar and simulator displays, to promote their stores and racing season.
"Walmart is the champion of the racing fan, and we are committed to providing customers with savings on authentic merchandise, as well as unique race time experiences," Steven Reed, market manager, Walmart, stated for the press release. "We want to give fans affordability and accessibility, so they can enjoy race time with their families and friends."
Discounts will be available on sleect foods and snacks for the races, as well as T-shirts and racing flags promoting the NASCAR races. Four stores will participate near the Dover International Speedway, starting at the market in the Middletown, Del., area on Wednesday. The event will be free to the public and will feature cars like: "Kingsford Ultimate Tailgate Truck, 5-hour Energy show car, Walmart's 50th Anniversary show car, Coca-Cola 2-seat simulator, Oreo Ritz show car, No. 24 Pepsi Max show car and No. 88 Diet Mountain Dew show car, Hefty show car simulator, Wheaties show car and Kellogg's Cheez-It show car," as listed by the press release.
On Thursday, May 31, the Milford, Del., Walmart branch will offer the same set of cars on display as those in Middletown, and viewable to the public from 11:00am - 5:00pmp EST. Friday, June 1 will have the NASCAR displays at the Camden Walmart store; and the final day of showcase, taking place on Saturday, June 2, will have Waltrip make a stage appearance at 5:00pm at the Dover Walmart store at 36 Jerone Dr. More details on the venues can be found at Walmart's sub-website for NASCAR.
