BAND-AID teamed up with Disney to introduce their new BAND-AID Brand Magic Vision App, where children who wear the Disney-branded band-aids to cover their injuries can view a variety of entertainment scenarios featuring The Muppets characters.
The Brand Magic Vision App included a platform for augmented reality, said BAND-AID Brand Adhesive Bandages in a press release issued on Wednesday, whereby if children or their parents scanned their band-aid strps or boxes featuring characters from Disney's The Muppets, they would one of several performances and adventures from the likes of Miss Piggy, The Great Gonzo, or Kermit the Frog.
"For nearly 100 years, parents have relied on BAND-AID® Brand to help heal their kids' cuts and scrapes which means we have also become a part of those special, soothing and nurturing moments," Hugh Dineen, vice president, Johnson & Johnson Consumer Companies, Inc., stated for the press release. "Whether through our fashion-forward bandages or through this new technology-forward app, BAND-AID® Brand is committed to providing unexpected delight during the healing process."
The BAND-AID Brand Magic Vision App was created as a means to divert children away from the pains of the injuries they sustained, on which they would need a band-aid to help heal. Upon wearing the band-aid, they could use the app, available for iOS devices (iPhone 4/s or iPad 2+) in the Apple App Store, according to the press release, and interact with The Muppets.
The App, which can store photos from the interactive play, included singing along to Kermit's serenade, striking a pose with Miss Piggy, or assisting Gonzo on his daring act of lunacy. Photos from any of the scenarios can be taken and updated to BAND-AID's official Facebook page.
"The incredible success of 'The Muppets' movie shows that Kermit, Miss Piggy and gang are as popular as ever," Embola Ndi, vice president of consumable goods, Disney Consumer Products, was quoted as saying for the press release. "With the new BAND-AID® Brand Magic Vision application featuring Disney's The Muppets, we are able to reach parents and kids in a new way by turning an everyday healing moment into a fun, captivating experience."
