Travelers boarding American Airlines flights on Friday, May 18th, at John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) in New York City are in for a treat: the aircraft carrier line announced on Thursday that those walking through Terminal 8 at JFK will get to see a special performance from the Broadway production of "Sister Act, A Divine Musical Comedy."
The "Sister Act" cast, including star Raven-Symone as lead Deloris Van Cartier, will be at the terminal live on Friday between 3:00pm - 3:45pm EST to perform several numbers from the musical, such as "Fabulous Baby," ""Sister Act"," and "Life I Never Led," according to the press release issued by American Airlines, "Sister Act"'s official airline partner. Two free performances featuring the cast will be held at Terminal 8.
"American Airlines is proud to continue our support of Broadway with a series of concerts at JFK this summer," Joann Camuti, American's Director - Sales Promotions and Community Relations for New York, said in AA press release issued on Thursday. "We're excited to bring the uplifting music and family fun of "Sister Act" to our customers at Terminal 8."
During the performances at the terminal on Friday, the production of "Sister Act" will be offering passing travelers discount tickets for upcoming shows at the Broadway Theatre.
"We're thrilled to bring the best of Broadway to Terminal 8 throughout the summer," Mark Najarian, American's General Manager - JFK Airport, was quoted as saying in the press release. "A performance from the talented "Sister Act" cast is a real treat for our customers."
The story of "Sister Act", adapted from the 1992 film starring Academy-Award winners Whoopi Goldberg and Maggie Smith, follows Cartier, a singer who unfortunately witnesses a crime and is hidden by the police in a convent. Cartier helps her fellow sisters find their voices, both singing and inner, under the watchful eye of Mother Superior, and in the process finds her own to a grand performance as the finale.
The Broadway production of "Sister Act" also costars Carolee Carmello as Mother Superior, Fred Applegate as Monsignor O'Hara, Sarah Bolt as Sister Mary Patrick, and John Treacy Egan, all of whom are scheduled to be at the American Airlines terminal performance.
