The Canadian clothing company Silver Jeans announced today that it will finally be expanding its franchise to the United States as soon as early 2013, according to a press release issued by the company.
Silver Jeans, who sells well-fitting and custom-fit jeans, will be bringing its brand stores to the U.S.; currently there is only one Silver Jeans Co. branded retail shop, located in Denver, Colo., which opened in 2008 at Park Meadows Mall. The Canadian brand is pushing to its southern neighbor as a means to begin a global marketing strategy to create a retail division to cater to international markets within its corporate structure, as noted in the press release issued on Thursday morning from Winnipeg, Manitoba. As part of "a multi-door plan in the U.S," Silver Jeans is currently setting up preparations its first new store project for the United States, though did not report in which state, to open by the first quarter of the new year.
"At Silver Jeans Co., we feel the time is appropriate for us to finally act on our original retail strategy," Michael Silver, President, Silver Jeans Co, was quoted as saying in the press release. "Our brand is more than ready from a product selection and market position to expand significantly into retail. We are very excited to be at this evolution of our brand and to be able to invite consumers into the Silver Jeans Co. world."
Denise Norkus, former vice president of fashion brand Betsey Johnson, which recently filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in April 2012, according to Reuters, was announced as the vice president for the new American retail division, according to Silver Jeans' press release. She will report and work with the Canadian company's president, Michael Silver.
Norkus team for Silver Jeans' American expansion included Darren James, set to become senior director of operations, reported in the press release. James previously worked with Disney Stores North America, "where he held numerous field and operations roles with increasing levels of responsibility," Silver Jeans confirmed in the press release.
