Dole Launches Cross-Country Shake It Up! Summer Tour to Promote Healthy Snacks, Support Boys & Girls Club

| By

As part of a way to move towards a healthier America, Dole announced they will go on an eight-city sample tour across the United States this summer to bring nutritious snacks to families, while assisting the local Boys & Girls Club chapters.

Dole will be promoting and giving out free samples of two new products from their brand, the DOLE Fruit Smoothie Shakers and DOLE Frozen Fruit Single-serve Cups, during the DOLE® Shake It Up! Summer Tour, set to start today, May 16, 2012 in New York City's Herald Square Madison Square Boys & Girls Club, according to the press release issued by the company.

"The Madison Square Boys & Girls Club is all too familiar with the barriers youth face each day that prevent them from living healthy and fit lives," Quentin Ball, Director of Corporate Relations for Madison Square Boys & Girls Club in New York, said. "We were thrilled when Dole approached us with this opportunity to provide our Clubhouse members with a supply of healthy snacks for the summer. The Dole tour supports the work we are doing through our core program areas to instill in our youth a life-long passion and commitment to a nutritious diet and physical fitness."

Dole stated that as part of the promotion, for every sample of the smoothie shakers and fruit cups given out in the eight cities, including New York City, Boston, Baltimore, Charlotte, Atlanta, Austin, Los Angeles, and San Francisco, one healthy snack will be donated to the local Boys & Girls Club chapter in each of the eight participating major metropolitan areas. This is also part of the Dole's Fit Kid initiate, which encourages children to eat between 5-9 servings of vegetables and fruits a day, as well as be physically active for at least a half hour daily, according to the press release.

"Summer is the perfect time to shake up your routine and the DOLE Shake It Up Summer Tour is a great way for us to share delicious products that make it easier to choose a snack that is healthy," Paul Panza, director of marketing at Dole Packaged Foods, commented for the Dole press release. "We're proud to be donating these nutritious items to local Boys & Girls Club chapters and introduce the kids to fun options like tasty fruit and yogurt smoothies that don't require a blender. We hope everyone will come out in support of these great clubs."
