Sears Outlets to Offer 10% Discount to Uniformed Service Members in Honor of Armed Forces Day

| By

Sears announced today that in honor of Armed Forces Day this Saturday, May 19th, a 10 percent discount will be given to all personnel, both past and present, who served in the military, police force, and fire rescue team.

This discount will include more than 23 million military veterans, 3.4 million police and fire rescue fighters, and overall uniformed service members - such as all Active Duty, Reservist, National Guard, retirees and dependents from the Armed Forces (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard), Uniformed Law Enforcement and Fire/Rescue Personnel - who shop in-store this weekend, according to a press release issued on Tuesday from merchandise retailer. Sears, Roebuck and Co., a wholly owned subsidiary of Sears Holdings Corporation, has long supported the armed forces and those in uniform through its Heroes at Home program, which, according to the press release, has given $23 million towards the aid of military service members, veterans and their families via non-profit organizations. The millions raised were used towards the rebuilding of more than 1,100 homes for military families the organization felt deserved the assistance.

"Often uniformed service members are the unsung heroes within our communities," said JJ Ethridge, vice president and general manager, Sears Outlet, as printed in the press release. "At Sears Outlet, we not only honor their commitment to community and country, but also take great pride in demonstrating our continued gratitude for the service and sacrifice they and their families make, home and abroad, each day."

There are 120 Sears outlets located throughout the United States, and feature brand names like LG and General Electric appliances, NordicTrack, Sony, Kenmore, Craftsman, and Whirlpool, on which to use the exclusive 10 percent discount. Those interested in taking advantage of the discount need only present a valid identification at checkout, to confirm past or present service as a military, law enforcement, or fire department service member in the United States.

"This limited-time offer is an extension of Sears' continued support of those who serve and protect our country and communities," said a Sears representative through the press release.
