JetBlue Airways & Turkish Airlines Form Agreement to Connect Flights at JFK and IAD Airports

| By

JetBlue Airways and Turkish Airlines announced today that the two carriers have agreed to connect their network of flights at New York City's John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD), according to a press release issued on Tuesday from JetBlue.

The benefit of this partnership comes from the fact that now customers will be able to transfer in either New York City or Washington, DC, between flights operated by JetBlue Airways and Turkish Airlines with one-stop ticketing and check-ins, as well as a hassle-free baggage transfer from flight to flight. The transfer service would allow those on Turkish Airlines flights to readily take trips to the cities of Boston, Massachusetts; Buffalo/Niagara Falls, New York; Charlotte and Raleigh, North Carolina; Fort Lauderdale and Orlando, Florida; Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; and San Juan, Puerto Rico, all provided via JetBlue, according to the airline's press release.

"Turkish Airlines has quickly established itself as one of the world's leading airlines, and we are pleased to be partnering with them during this impressive period of growth," said JetBlue Chief Commercial Officer Robin Hayes, as noted in the press release. "With service from Washington plus three daily flights from JFK to Istanbul and beyond, our new partnership with this respected carrier will allow JetBlue customers to travel virtually anywhere on Earth with a single ticket."

The travel between terminals from a JetBlue flight to Turkish Airlines will not be a hassle for travelers, either, as, according to the press release, Turkish Airlines operates from Terminal 1 at JFK while Jetblue is four spots away at Terminal 5. Customers can get from one terminal to another via the airport's free AirTrain service quickly.

In addition to the one-stop ticketing transfer of flights, Turkish Airlines announced adding three more daily nonstop flights from JFK to the largest city in the Middle Eastern nation, Istanbul beginning this summer. This would be the most flights for a single airline to Istanbul. The airline also offers daily nonstop service between Istanbul and Dulles International Airport in the U.S. capital.

Turkish Airlines' Chief Investment and Technology Officer, Ahmet Bolat, Ph.D. added, "We believe that this new partnership will boost traffic between Turkey and the U.S. with JetBlue's wide-ranging network via New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport and Washington Dulles International Airport. We're very excited to bring JetBlue service to Turkish Airlines' customers."
