Checkers Drive-In Restaurants signed a $280 million deal with Willow Run Foods Inc., an employee-owned company specializing in food processing.
The deal, which is expected to last eight years, will grant Willow Run Foods distribution rights to 125 Checkers locations around the country, according to Press Connects. Most of these locations include
"All of our employees are excited about growth, and this is an opportunity to grow and expand our market," Willow Run president and CEO Terry Wood said, according to the site.
Willow Run Foods is expected to hire approximately 25 employees who will be working closely with Checkers on distribution tasks.
Checkers was founded in 1986 in Mobile, Alabama with a specialty in burgers, fries and colas. Rally's, founded in 1985 in Louisville, Kentucky, also specializes in the same products.
In recent years, Checkers has experienced substantial growth around the country, rivaling its McDonald's and Burger King counterparts.
Willow Run and Checkers have not publicized the terms of agreement for their eight-year deal.
