When Apple released its iPhone 6 series and dominated the smartphone market share, another tech-giant, Samsung, has also discreetly unveiled an upgraded Galaxy S5. Amidst rumors of Samsung Galaxy S6, the Korean-based tech-giant revealed its Samsung Galaxy S5 Plus. Samsung Galaxy S5 Plus is dubbed as an improved version of Samsung Galaxy S5, Forbes reported.
Samsung had to do this as an effort to control the damage that Apple has impacted on the company's market share. Based on reports from GSM Arena and NDTV, let's check how upgraded is the new Galaxy S5 Plus when compared to its predecessor, Galaxy S5.
Galaxy S5 Plus sports Snapdragon 805 chipset, which is faster compared to S5's Snapdragon 801 chipset. The new galaxy device has an upgraded GPU that is Adreno 420 while the older version has the Adreno 330. In terms of their processor, the S5 Plus has the newer Krait 450, a much superior processor compared to S5's Krait 400.
S5 Plus is also equipped with a better 4G performance, where it can have 300Mbps download compared to the original Samsung download capacity of about 150Mbps. Both the S5 Plus and S5 sports 16MP rear camera without OIS, also known as Optical Image Stabilization. Both handsets also feature 4K Ultra HD video recording and has the same 2800mAh removable battery.
Aside from the upgraded specifications mentioned above such as boost in 4G performance, chipset, GPU and processor, S5 Plus and S5 share the same software and hardware specs. Both devices have 2GB of RAM, expandable 16 GB internal memory and 5.1-inch screen display with 1920x1080 resolution. They also share the same body built at 142x72.5x8.1mm that weighs 5.11 oz or 145 grams.
Based on the comparison above, Samsung Galaxy S5 Plus clearly is an improved version of the Samsung Galaxy S5. There's no doubt that it has the edge on every angle. Tech-consumers and Samsung fans would just need to patiently wait for the release of the new monster - Samsung Galaxy S5 Plus.
