There is no denying the fact that "Resident Evil" is one of the most successful titles that has ever been introduced in the gaming industry. With the game having been first made available only to the Sony PlayStation gaming console, the platforms where it can be played on has now grown so considerably. It has been adapted into successful film series as well. And now, there will be another addition to the franchise. This will be in the form of the "Resident Evil" TV series, as IGN as reported.

According to Gamespot, "Resident Evil" for the small screen is already "in the works." However, for those who are really excited about this news should not think it will be released sometime in the near future, this is simply because of the fact that the TV series premiere will only be launched after the next "Resident Evil" film installment will hit the movie theaters.

For those who are still wary of believing that there will really be a "Resident Evil" TV series franchise, you should know that this news has actually come from none other than the production firm Constantin Film. If you are not familiar with this name, it is actually the group responsible for the production of the "Resident Evil" films.

According to Engadget, the announcement stating that Resident Evil will come to the small screen has been made by Constantin Film and that RE is not the only title that the production firm has big plans for. "Perfume" and "Mortal Instruments" are also currently undergoing reworking to be made available for television screens.

As Engadget has reported, details about whether or not the "Resident Evil" TV series will follow the plot, and storyline of the original game still remains a mystery. There has been no confirmation yet from any of the involved parties if the TV series will be based on the film adaptation of the game.

So when exactly will the "Resident Evil" TV series premiere be released? According to Gamespot, and as previously mentioned, it will only be shown on television after "Final Chapter," which is the title of the next RE film, will launch on the big screen. The movie does not have any confirmed release date either.
