GapKids Collaborates With Kate Spade And Jack Spade For Childrenswear Collection

Gap collaborates with kate spade new york and Jack Spade for a Holiday 2014 limited collection boys' and girls' apparel for GapKids.

It's the first time the two brands are designing childrenswear, and also the first time that two Kate Spade & Company brands to collaborate on a project. The collection will be available for two weeks starting on October 21 in selected stores in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, France, Hong Kong and Japan and the brand's online store gap.com.

The childrenswear collection portrays whimsical and festive designs to be available in toddler and kid sizes. It will combine kate spade new york's feminine style, Jack Spade's sophisticated touch, and Gap's trademark American style. They took designs from the archives, which are downsized and sewn in different fabrics more suitable for kids.

Creative Director and EVP of Gap Global Design Rebekka Bay said, "Collaborating with iconic American brands such as kate spade new york and Jack Spade is a way of bringing style and optimism to the GapKids customer."

Bay said that they aim to celebrate the identities of the three brands by bringing the "casualness of GapKids, the playfulness and prettiness of kate spade new york and the quirkiness of Jack Spade" into the collection.

Kate Spade & Company Chief Creative Office Deborah Lloyd said they cannot think of a better company than Gap to work with for a childrenswear collection.

"Their colorful and playful spirit aligns perfectly with ours and they've helped us realize our vision of dressing little ones head to toe in kate spade new york and Jack Spade for their next big adventure," said Lloyd.

Two sibling visiting their grandmother are the creative inspiration of the collection, which will include dresses, graphic shirts, button downs and winter accessories. Prices range from $9.95 up to $130 for both the boys' and girls' apparel.
