Xiaomi's VP for International Operations, Hugo Barra, has announced that their two most anticipated products- the Xiaomi Redmi Nnote and Xiaomi Mi4, could be launched in India within the next 60 days. Although no specific date has been revealed, Barra said that as long as there will be no problems in manufacturing, it is highly possible that both devices will be released on the same date. " We don't have a date for Mi4 yet. I am going to stick with what I said earlier which is still the plan- launch it late December 2014 or early January 2015. I don't think the Redmi Note would conflict with Mi4 even if we launch them together," Barra remarked.
The VP also confirmed that they will no longer sell Mi3 in India. But for those Flipkart users who repeatedly attempt to buy the said gadget but were unsuccessful, the company might automatically add the Mi3 in their online carts. " We always keep a few thousand units as a precaution for replacements. However, once we are sure that we don't need that stock for replacement anymore, we may do something like what we did on the 6th of October for customers who did not get the Mi3 even after 5 attempts," he said.
It was reported that Xiaomi Mi3 and Redmi 1S were sold like hotcakes in India, where weekly flash sales were being held. It only took a few seconds before both smartphones went out of stock on Flipkart. Indian buyers can't seem to get enough of Xiaomi's products because aside from being budget-friendly, they offer unique features that are not inferior to the likes of HTC or Samsung.
Barra guarantees that there will be at least 100,000 units of Xiaomi Redmi Note and Xiaomi Mi4 when they will be finally launched in India, hoping that it will sell in hours rather than seconds.
Xiaomi Mi4 has been compared with Apple's iPhone 6 Plus. Details are found here.
