The 45-year old slapstick, funny man Zach Galifianakis from the Hangover trilogy movie surprised everyone with his new and improved physique the moment he hit the red carpet for the premiere of his new movie Birdman, in New York on Saturday. It was also his first public appearance in a year. The actor was wearing a gray suit over a blue shirt and tie. He was sporting a jaw-length curly locks with his signature beard. Noticeable was his body because of his weight loss.
When asked by E! regarding the dramatic weight loss, he jokingly replied "I'm dying," mentioning that the size of his suit went down to a ladies size of 50. The Emmy winner had been losing weight since last year and even revealed in an interview with Conan O'Brien about what made him decide to shed the pounds. " I stopped drinking and I just kind of put the weight off... I was having a lot of vodka with sausage... Delicious but bad for you... I was getting into too much trouble with drinking, so I just kind of stopped," the actor confessed.
During the premier, he also talked about his new role in the much awaited flick. " The script kind of called for a more kind of tame person, as opposed to the things maybe that I have played in the past," the actor told E! News. " It's a different type of movie, you kind of want to change the tone of your acting. It was challenging because it was new." He plays the role of a producer in a play and the lead character's friend and lawyer.
Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance) is a black comedy movie that also stars Michael Keaton, Edward Norton, Emma Stone, Naomi Watts, Andrea Riseborough, and Amy Ryan. It is scheduled to hit the cinemas on October 17.
