Make no mistake, because Z3 is not just an upgrade but is the "real deal"!
Sony's Xperia Z3 smartphones and Z3 Compact will be out by the 4th week of October, while the SmartWatch 3 and SmartBand Talk smartwear accessories will be out by November.
After six months of Xperia Z2's launch, Sony has brought another good news for the public; the "Xperia Z3", that solves many of the problems of its predecessor while adding genuinely exceptional features.
Xperia Z3 is now made more comfortable with the aluminum and tempered glass OmniBalance design. It has rounded sides and the body is still angular and doesn't sit completely snug in the palm.
It also helps greatly that the Xperia Z3 weighs just 152g (that's 11g less than the Z2) and is skinnier too at a mere 7.3mm. It's a big phone with a 5.2 inch screen but it's not overly extensive in the hand compared to other smartphones. The covers hiding the microUSB, SIM and microSD slots are smaller, rounded and more developed and even though the top and bottom bezels still look a little bit old-fashioned, the bezels on both sides of the screen are now slimmer.
Furthermore, you don't need to worry about smashing it because Sony has added new nylon caps to the corners. Phones are probably to be dropped on corners, so replacing the old aluminum edges is designed to make the Z3 more durable. During the test, Z3 were dropped on purpose, and apart from a slight scratch on the top left cap, the Z3 survived as spotless as before.
What can Xperia Z3 certainly offer?
1. Finest design and the uppermost waterproof rating
Xperia Z3 is the smartphone that you do not need to worry while running in the rain or a diving into the pool or during underwater activities. With the highest waterproof rating, you can find your way in a deluge, take pictures underwater or just wipe off your phone after an unexpected spill. Combined with a super-slim body and aluminum frame, Xperia Z3 is the Android smartphone that teams "durability with beauty".
It is protected against the entry of dust and is waterproof. As long as that all ports and covers are firmly closed, the phone is (i) dust tight and (ii) protected against low pressure jets of water from all practicable directions in compliance with IP65; and/or (iii) can be kept under 1.5 m of fresh water for up to 30 minutes in compliance with IP68.
2. Everything about cameras
Your best moments deserve more than dark, blurry shots. Xperia Z3 is now a premium phone with Cyber-shot and Handycam technologies. So you can capture the laughter in any light, shoot steady videos on the move and take crisp shots underwater. You can also unleash your creativity with our widest ever choice of unique Xperia camera apps. It's the best smartphone camera yet of Sony, to make sure your memories are as lively as real life.
3. The "only" smartphone with PS4TM Remote Play
Say goodbye to casual gaming. PS4TM Remote Play brings real PS4 gaming to Xperia Z3. Just access your PS4 console via your home WiFi and play your favourite games with your DUALSHOCK®4 controller in any room. This premium phone matches the latest gaming with the best Sony technologies. With a super-bright display and digital noise cancelling technology, engaging yourself in your game has never been easier.
Functionality is available on Sony Xperia Z3, Z3 Compact and Z3 Tablet Compact. However, some games may not support this feature.
4. A fully loaded smartphone with a "two-day" battery life
Xperia Z3 combines finest materials with the best Sony technologies, to give you a better smartphone experience, every hour of the day. You can enjoy gaming with this unique two-day battery life. It's a smartphone that lets you do more than ever before, without interruption.
The result is based on multiple battery performance tests conducted between July and September 2014 in a laboratory under active use conditions reflective of the Typical Smartphone User by Sony Mobile Communications AB.
It was said that the white model is less reflective outdoors, according to a test done by a specific website, than the black model. There are also two new colours in the form of copper and silver green.
However the real main addition to apps is Lifelog, a slick life-tracking app which displays a timeline of your day with colourful icon bubbles for each activity. You can 'play back' your day to see the figure move and it even shows a bus graphic when it knows you've been in transit. It's all a bit like stalking a cartoon of yourself, and is as fun as that sounds.
