The Illusionist 2006 movie as TV series? Well, even if you say no, it won't make sense as adaptation of the hit period drama film is already underway. According to the Entertainment Weekly, The Illusionist is one of two movies that are confirmed to have their version on the boob tube. The other one is the 2004 film In Good Company, an American comedy film that starred Dennis Squad, Topher Grace, Scarlett Johannson.
The Entertainment Weekly wrote:
"EW can confirm that a script has been ordered by The CW for a show based on the 2006 film The Illusionist, which starred Ed Norton as the titular character. The project is being written by Mark Hudis and executive produced by Ben Silverman and Bob Yari. The show comes from CBS Television Studios, Electus, and the Yari Film Group."
The Illusionist TV series will be completely different though from the 2006 film, plot-wise. If the Edward Norton-starrer tells the story of a man who used his ability to fight for the woman he loves, the story of the lead actor in the TV adaptation was twisted, largely.
"The TV adaptation would transplant the film from its Vienna locale to turn-of-the-20th-century New York, where a renowned illusionist has returned to his home after a 10-year stint in prison. He comes back only to discover his wife married to the crime lord who framed him. Hoping to seek revenge, he poses as a member of the crime lord's organization and uses his illusory skills to rise through the ranks."
The announcement of Illusionist 2006 Movie TV series adaptation met mostly negative reviews.
A user named @akstanwyck slammed the people behind it for lacking originality.
"Because original ideas are dead, 'The Illusionist' is going to be a TV series now," she said.
Another Twitter user named Danish believes The Illusionist should be left as it is. "Sometimes you just gotta let things go and let them be."
