YouTube star Chester See is set to make his Broadway debut in the cover-filled musical on Oct. 27, playing the role of Stacee Jaxx.
His limited engagement as the wild rock idol will wrap Jan. 4, 2015.
See, who has over 1.5 million subscribers and 160 million channel views of his sketches, covers and drama shorts, was recently nominated for six Streamy awards and won for his Best Original Song "Whistle While I Work It" featuring Wayne Brady and Toby Turner.
The UCLA graduate and former host of Disney Channel's behind-the-scenes entertainment news program Disney 365 most recently starred in "Side Effects by DreamWorks" AwesomenessTV web channel, and the web feature "Camp Takota."
His relationship with Maker Studios has him currently developing programming for ABC, ABC Family and its affiliates.
"Continuing our journey as Broadway's renegade musical, the Rock of Ages team stays dedicated to thinking outside the box and defying traditional theater norms within every level of the production," says producer Matt Weaver in a statement. "Today's freshest young talents are emerging online through this 'new media' revolution, and we're thrilled to be the first on Broadway to recognize the growing importance of digital platforms for reaching new audiences. Chester is an incredible artist, and just as our songs have transcended generations, we're certain his star power will shine brightly on the Broadway stage, as it does on monitors across the globe."
Mitchell Jarvis, who currently plays Stacee Jaxx (the role played by Tom Cruise in the 2012 film), will have his final performance at the Helen Hayes Theater on Oct. 26.
