Early last year, GungHo Online Entertainment announced the development of the game "Lily Bergamo". In 2014, the title changed to "Let It Die" with a PS4 release date around the corner, and a possible accompanying app for smartphones.
Formerly known as "Lily Bergamo", "Let It Die" is a project between Grasshopper Manufacture and GungHo Online Entertainment. It fills an objective that is to "make a game that leverages the inherent flavor of both companies", as expressed by Kazuki Morishita, GungHo CEO.
"Lily Bergamo" storyline focuses on Tae Ioroi, the female protagonist. She appears in the future close to year 2050, in a world focusing on both Japanese and Western cultures. It is a free-play, hack and slash game that is described as an "extreme action game".
Siliconera reports how the title changed from "Lily Bergamo" to "Let It Die", revealing the interview with Goichi Suda, the head of Grasshopper Manufacture, who explains: "While we were desgining the game, one of the key features of the game is once a player dies their player data becomes enemy data and they spawn as an enemy. The game basically evolved from 'Lily Bergamo' to 'Let It Die'. It was a better concept. It better represented what we were thinking. The game officially became 'Let It Die' around December."
According to Suda, in an interview with Gematsu, upon the "Let It Die" release date, fans will experience "extreme action". He defines this as "First, it thoroughly incorporates the elements of 'hack and slash'. In short, within the action, there is an element of growth included. By accumulating experience, the player's data is updated and more and more rapidly. This is the type of action game I want to create, and development is advancing."
He also reveals that upon the "Let It Die" release date, games will be able to play using their smartphones via a companion app. He says, "The companion app is continuing development for smartphones. This is the component we want you to pay the most attention to."
"Let It Die" release date has been set for 2015.
