Following her 72-hour psychiatric hold at Las Encinas Hospital in Pasadena,California last Friday, former Nickelodeon star Amanda Bynes would have to stay there for another 14 days, which started Monday, as reported by E! News.
The reason for the 14-day hold of Bynes is in order for her parents to be able to go to court to gain conservatorship. The hearing is expected to be held within the week, but Bynes's parents are not allowed to attend the said hearing unless their daughter permits them, as stated in the court guidelines. As told by CNN, experts said that the key to keeping the actress in a mental facility could be her claim of a microchip implanted in her brain that made her tweet things against her father.
Weeks prior to her return to L.A., Bynes again became the subject of rumors due to her strange behavior that included an alleged shoplifting at Barneys in New York and twerking in one of the Upper East Side boutiques. But the biggest controversy she has inflicted upon herself so far was her revelation via twitter, that her father allegedly abused her physically and sexually as a child. A short time after her announcement, she again tweeted saying "My dad never did any of those things. The microchip in my brain made me say those things but he's the one that ordered them to microchip me."
Bynes' father, Rick Bynes, was fully supported by his wife and the rest of their family, as the troubled star's mother issued a statement that said " these allegations stem from Amanda's mental state at the moment (and) have no basis in reality.
The What A Girl Wants star has been formally diagnosed with schizophrenia last year following her setting a stranger's driveway on fire. Through her parents' consent, she was put through a mental health conservatorship which ended recently. Last week's incident was the second time she was involuntarily placed in a psychiatric hold with the help of Sam Lufti, Britney Spears' former manager. According to TMZ, Lufti was the one who convinced Bynes to fly to Los Angeles to sue her parents, which was just a scheme, for her parents to get a hold of her.
