Angel Di Maria Transfer To Manchester United Is An Injection That The Team Needs According To Sir Alex Ferguson

| By

Sir Alex Ferguson has retired from coaching football teams in 2013 and yet, whatever he says, especially the ones pertaining to Manchester United, is treated like a king's word. Why not? He steered the Old Trafford-based club to 13 Premier League championships and two Champions League trophies over the past two decades. It is also hard to blame people to seek Ferguson's advice after Red Devils' disappointing 2013-14 season under the tutelage of his replacement, David Moyes.

Quality spending is what most pundits point as Man U's biggest mistake last season wherein they ended up at seventh place. It is also the first time in many years that MUFC won't be in the Champions League. For this year, many people are counting on the Red Devils to get back to their winning ways, especially with the way they have spent money on the last transfer market. For Alex Ferguson, new coach Louis Van Gaal's moves are impressive. He is especially bullish to the signing of Angel Di Maria from Real Madrid, Radamel Falcao from AS Monaco, and Ander Herrera from Athletic Bilbao.

'That's the way the game is going today with fees like £86m for Gareth Bale,' said Ferguson about Angel di Maria transfer to Manchester United that set the record transfer fee in the English Premier League.

'I think when you can identify ability like that needed by Manchester United, they have the resources to do that. They are fees I never quite equalled but nonetheless they were needing quite a big injection this year.'

Aside from Angel di Maria transfer, Ferguson also thins Colombian forward Falcao is a 'big acquisition.'

'The big one is Falcao who we're all waiting to see. Obviously, he has fantastic goalscoring ability. He had his injury so getting him on loan is the right thing to do.'

Ferguson also revealed that he has been watching the Spanish kid Herrera for a long time.

'Herrera played against us three years ago for (Athletic) Bilbao in the Europa League. In fairness, they gave us a right battering at Old Trafford,' said Ferguson.

'He's a talented young player and we scouted him quite a lot at that time. Obviously I think they tried to get him last year but it fell through for some reason or another.

'He's athletic, quite aggressive actually for a lad who has not got a great frame and he's quite slim but he's quite aggressive and he gets around the pitch.'
