"August: Osange County" actress Misty Upham has been reported as missing. The 32-year-old actress was reportedly last seen by her relatives on October 5.
Charles Upham reportedly asked the police to list her daughter as a missing person because it appeared that she had the intention to run away.
Upham told her family that she was going to see friends but has not heard from her since, said a report from the Hollywood Reporter.
In an interview with the publication, the actress' father reportedly said his daughter "wasn't in her right mind" when she left. "She had recently changed her medication, so she was sort of having erratic behavior," Mr. Upham said. "She told me and her mom that we didn't have to worry about her anymore. ... I thought it sounded suicidal myself, so I called the police. She's always been a suicidal person."
Some reports claimed that the actress was stressed about financial problems which caused her to flee and allegedly commit suicide, but Mr. Upham has released a statement negating the allegations.
"I would like to clarify circumstances regarding Misty's disappearance. In my opinion the media has spun an innacurate perspective," said Mr. Upham in a post on the actress' Facebook account. "So far articles read: Actress stressed over money and career, Father fears suicide."
The post continued, "Police reports suggest [that] Misty packed her bags and left on her own. The truth is Misty is not stressed over money or career. Her career is going great. As her father I do not fear she committed suicide. I feel that she has been hurt by accident or someone has put her in harm's way."
He added, "Misty left in a psychotic state of mind with the clothes she had on and her shoulder bag ... Some of the people that met her or woked with her for a few months are weighing in with their own conclusions and people are accepting it as the gospel. They don't really know her. TMZ called her sister to get a story and the first thing they ask is 'do you think she is dead? Did she commit suicide?' How insensitive can you be at a time like this?"
Misty Upham was nominated in 2008 for a Independent Spirit Award for her role in "Frozen River." She is also slated to co-star with Jennifer Aniston in the movie "Cake."
