New York Giants' Victor Cruz Injured Right Knee While Playing Against Philadelphia Eagles

| By

American football wide receiver for the New York Giants, Victor Cruz, is out due to a torn patellar tendon. This season, the team will be moving forward without Cruz as he was carted off the field last Sunday.

Cruz was suffering from an injury in his right knee which occurred while he was up against the Philadelphia Eagles. Cruz's team, the Giants, has immediately announced that he was diagnosed with a torn patellar tendon. He was then taken to a Philadelphia hospital and will be confined for the night.

While leaping to make a touchdown reception with 9:35 to play in the third quarter, Cruz got injured. He grabbed at his knee before he fell on the turf as the ball passed through his hands. Cruz cried as both teams surrounded him. He was then taken to the locker room.

Victor Michael Cruz is with the New York Giant of the National Football League (NFL). In the 2010 offseason, he was an undrafted free agent signed by the Giants.

The 27-year-old athlete is headed toward surgery. This might keep Cruz off the field until next summer.

Cruz has been the team's best wide receiver over the past three years and with him out, it will have a huge impact on the Giants. His absence will change the offense of the team and will need larger contributions from football wide receivers Reuben Randle and Odell Beckham. With Cruz out, the Giants will not have an easy time.

Around a year ago, Cruz suffered from a heel bruise in the preseason game but was deemed minimal in nature.

Last June 2013, Cruz signed a one-year $2.879 million restricted free agent tender. A month later, he signed a five year contract extension for $45.879 million. This is a total of six years inclusive of the free agent tender.

On October 12, 2014, in the Sunday night game against the Philadelphia Eagles, Cruz tore his tendon while trying to catch a 4th and Goal TD pass from Giants' football quarterback Eli Manning.
