Constantine TV series spoiler alert: in the premier of the new NBC series, True Blood alum Lucy Griffiths played the role of Liv Aberdeen who teamed up with Matt Ryan's John Constantine in hunting demons. Liv was mark for death by a powerful demon and she had to stay with the gifted supernatural detective to stay alive. However, Griffiths will not bee seen anymore in the next episodes as NBC decided to drop the character as the story opted to take another path.
NBC has found a replacement for her. Enter Angelica Celaya who will play Zed Martin, John's love interest. This new Constantine TV series spoiler was first bared by the Hollywood Reporter.
"Griffiths played Liv, the female lead and an offbeat woman who finds herself teamed with Constantine after she is marked for death by a powerful demon. With the ability to see the supernatural world among us, she becomes a key player in the battle between good and evil," it said.
"NBC will not recast the role but instead will add the character of Zed, a familiar name from the Constantine books. Zed, a foil for the show's title character who becomes his right-hand woman, has not yet been cast. She will appear in an early episode of the series, with additional characters from Hellblazer and the occult DC universe to be introduced later. Zed will, however, be the first to appear."
In another Constantine TV series spoiler from E! Online, Executive Producer Daniel Cerone described the new female character as "someone who can go toe-to-toe with John, and that's ultimately something we felt like we needed, we wanted a more dynamic relationship, as opposed to someone who is a teacher/mentor and a student. It just didn't feel as fertile and rich of an area as just a strong a man and a strong woman who are both very different."
There are more characters that will be introduced so expect more Constantine TV series spoiler in the coming days.
Constantine TV series will debut on October 24.
