Adrian Peterson Faces Re-Arrest After Admitting Weed Use While on Bond, Could Face Six Months To 2 Years In Prison

| By

News of Minnesotta Viking's running back Adrian Peterson will be re-arrested and his bail bond of $15,000 to be revoked has been buzzing around after he admitted to a Montgomery court employee that he "had smoked a little weed" before the urinalysis test and his court appearance last Wednesday.

Peterson was hurled with felony child abuse charge when he hit his 4-year-old son with a switch.

In an ESPN report, Assistant District Attorney of Texas Bill Demore said that, "In light of this statement, and the fact that it was made during the urinalysis testing process, and the term 'weed' is a common slang term for marijuana, the state argues that the defendant has smoked marijuana while on bond.'' Use of illegal substance while on bond is a ground for revocation of bond and arrest warrant.

Rusty Harding, lawyer of Peterson, said the case was about a parenting decision. Peterson striking his son with a switch is a form of parental decision and "whether something unfortunate happened when a parenting decision was made by a man who believes strongly and love his children very much." Peterson's wife accompanied him during the court appearance.

If convicted of the child abuse charge, Peterson will be slapped with six months to two years jail sentence in state prison. But being a first-time offender, he could be placed under probation. As NFL player, he will be face disciplinary action such as suspension for six weeks maximum.

Peterson is currently on paid leave. He will still be compensated fully, receiving his $11.75 million salary, though he is not allowed to join team activities until he is cleared of the case.

Peterson has been experiencing bad vibes since the striking incident. His sponsors have also pulled away while the Vikings are giving him cold treatment. And more negativities seem to come with his weed use.
