The I Know What You Did Last Summer Remake is confirmed to be a go.


Having Sony Pictures remaking "the 1997 horror flick that ended up grossing $125M worldwide and spawned a sequel the following year. Both starred Jennifer Love Hewitt. This one is being written by Oculus c0-writer/director Mike Flanaganand partner Jeff Howard who are adapting the 1973 Lois Duncan book again. Producing is Neal Moritz (Fast and Furious franchise) who also produced the original 17 years ago. If the budget is kept tight for the revamp of the popular horror movie about friends being stalked by a killer after conspiring to cover up a fatal car accident, it could be a very profitable venture for the studio." -- According to deadline.com


The I Know What You Did Last Summer Remake will again feature the story of an obsessed fisherman who decides to stalk a group of teenagers one year after the group decides to cover up a car accident in which they were involved in. The previous movie starred the hottest celebrities of the 90's, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Ryan Philippe, Sarah Michelle Gellar and Freddie Prince Jr. It was able to generate it generated $125m worldwide after only being made for $17M. The film was also followed by two more sequels: I Still Know What You Did Last Summer and I'll Always Know What You Did Last Summer.


As to who will play the group of teenagers this time, rumors have been making the rounds on the internet. Speculations include Victoria Justice to play Jennifer Love Hewitt's character, among others. This would be a good move for the Nickelodeon star who's also rumored to be wanting to get out of the Nickelodeon image and follow suit at a more mature and sexy role. Considering that Victoria has been recently under controversies following her leaked nude photos, this project would be a good follow up.
