The third sequel of the adventure-comedy franchise will be hitting theaters on 2014!
Director Shawn Levy's ("date night", "the internship") new movie, the third and reportedly final entry in the popular adventure-comedy franchise, "Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb", will cast Ben Stiller, who will reprise his role as Larry Daley, a night watchman at the American museum of natural history where exhibits magically come to life at dusk on account of the power of the golden tablet of Pharoah Akhmenrah., Owen Wilson and the late Robin Williams. This third sequel will be one of Williams' final movie roles.
Night at the museum 3 will follow as Larry travels the globe in search of a way to somehow revive the waning powers of the mystical Egyptian artifact for the sake of his night time friends at the museum. Larry will continue to the Egyptian wing of the British museum to find answers.
"We go to the British museum in the second half of the movie because that is where the answers lie. It's not because it felt like time to get on an airplane", said Levy in USA today.
In London, they will unravel the secret of the tomb of akhmenrah's father, the tablet's creator. Larry will bring along his friends Pharoah Akhmenrah (Rami Malek), President Teddy Roosevelt (Robin Williams), Attila the hun (Patrick Gallagher), Sacagawea (Mizuo Peck), Jebediah (Owen Wilson) and Octavius (Steve Coogan). At the British museum, they will meet Akhmenrah's father (Ben Kingsley) and sir Lancelot (Dan Stevens).
What's new according to Levy:
"We came to 'Night at the Museum 3' just really grateful. It felt like a bit of a homecoming, a cast that we knew and loved in a world and a franchise that has been embraced at a level that I've never experienced. 'Night at the Museum,' that first movie is both of our most successful movie, still. We came together with a brotherhood and a shared love of this franchise and we wanted to close it out right. We wanted to close it out at an elevated level,
"Night at the museum 3" will be released on December 19th 2014.
