Upcoming Nokia Phones 2014: Nokia Stopped Production At Its Sriperumbudur Factory In India; Lumia 830, Lumia 735, And Lumia 730 The Last Nokia Phones?

| By

Upcoming nokia phones 2014 were Lumia 830, Lumia 735, And Lumia 730 that were revealed recently at IFA and rumored to be the last smartphones with 'Nokia' branding.

The Finnish company will stop smartphones with Nokia branding at its Sriperumbudur in Chennai, India reports said.

The Chennai factory had been trouble with the Indian federal authorities in a dispute over taxes.

Microsoft purchased Nokia earlier this year, but it's not part of the deal 'owing to an assets freeze order on the plant over a Rs21,000-crore tax dispute with Indian authorities' according to Economic Times.

Microsoft announced that it will terminate its pact with Nokia's factory.

"Microsoft has informed Nokia that it will be terminating the manufacturing services defined in the agreement with effect from 1 November 2014."

"In absence of further orders from Microsoft, Nokia will suspend handset production at the Sriperumbudur facility from 1st November.", according to Microsoft's statement quoted from Indian Times.

Nokia said in a statement Tuesday, "In absence of further orders from Microsoft, Nokia will suspend handset production at the Sriperumbudur facility from 1st November."

HTC had been eyeing on the plant if it goes on sale, but unfortunately with Nokia's ongoing tax dispute with India's government it won't possible that it'll be up for sale.

"Unfortunately, the continuing asset freeze imposed by the tax department prevents Nokia from exploring potential opportunities for the transfer of the factory to a successor to support the long term viability of the established, fully functional electronics manufacturing ecosystem," Nokia's statement said.

Reports also say that Nokia will continue to pay wages to its 1,100 employees until the factory won't shut down.

Furthermore, rumors had been sprawling around that there will be no upcoming nokia phones 2014. The rumors suggest that the Lumia 830, Lumia 735 and Lumia 730 will be the last phones with Nokia branding.

It was also rumored that Microsoft will permanently abandon its Nokia branding when Microsoft transferred its Lumia support to Microsoft.com.
