The initial news that the next Lara Croft will only be available on Xbox broke fans' hearts. However, recent updates reveal that "Rise of the Tomb Raider" PS4 release date has been officially set, bringing tears of joy to those whose hearts were broken.
The video game franchise that focuses on archeologist Lara Croft has been around for two years short of a decade. Released in 2006, the video game has since earned numerous awards including a Guinness World Records as the "Most Successful Human Virtual Game."
Although only a handful of "Tomb Raider" games have been released since its introduction not to mention cancelled titles, Lady Croft continues to gather fans around the world. With A-list lead Hollywood actress putting a human face into the character of Lara Croft, success for the franchise is inevitable.
Two movie adaptations have been released in 2001 and 2003 titled, "Lara Croft: Tomb Raider" and "Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life", respectively. Achieving international success, the action-packed movie brought even more popularity to its original form, the video game.
Early this year during the E3 press conference, creators revealed a new trailer of "Tomb Raider" which reveals Lady Croft in conversation with a psychiatrist as she talks about previous adventures and dangers she encountered such as weapons she used, the popular jumping off cliff as well as the illuminable flares.
It was during this event that "Rise of the Tomb Raider" release date for Xbox was announced for 2015. News on PS4 release date then however was kept mum, leading to speculations that "Rise of the Tomb Raider" will not be available for other consoles.
According to Darrell Gallagher, Head of Studios for Crystal Dynamics in a post to the Tomb Raider Community,: "This doesn't mean that we're walking away from our fans who only play on PlayStation or on PC. Those are great systems, with great partners, and amazing communities. We have Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris coming to those platforms this December, and Tomb Raider: The Definitive Edition is available on PS4."
Updated news on "Rise of the Tomb Raider" PS4 release date has yet to be announced, although Geek.com reports that pre-orders for PS4 has already begun.
