Jeremy Lin Lakers News: Linsanity Says Nick Young Is Yet To Earn Swaggy P Moniker But Insists His New Teammate Is Glowing With Swaggyness

| By

The Jeremy Lin - Lakers deal news has sent many Linsanity fans in frenzy. On July 13, people who contracted Linsanity celebrated the news that one of the world's most popular players, Jeremy Lin, will join NBA's most popular team, the Los Angeles Lakers. One thing that fans are looking forward to is the Taiwanese-American baller's team up with one of the world's most decorated basketball star, Kobe Bryant, and possible mentor-student relationship with 2-time MVP and future Hall of Fame member Steve Nash.

Lin himself has expressed excitement regarding his transfer to Hollywood. However, one thing he's not yet sold about it is Nick Young's nickname Swaggy P. Young has loved his nickname even more when he moved to Staples Center in 2013. However, for Jeremy Lin, Lakers teammate is yet to earn every bit of that accolade.

"I call him Nick Young," Lin told LA Times last week after practice. "He's super cool, but I just find it ridiculous that everyone comes in here and just calls him Swaggy.

"You've got to earn it or something. And maybe he has, but I just got here. Maybe I'll adopt it eventually."

"I guess there just has to be something that I see -- that when I look at him he just glows with 'swaggyness.' I'm not there yet," said Lin.

He even thinks that it is weird for people to call Young using such moniker.

"No one calls me 'Linsanity.' No one calls [Kobe Bryant] the 'Black Mamba,'" he continued. That's why I think it's ridiculous that people call him Swaggy P."

Despite this, new Los Angeles Lakers Jeremy Lin insist that he and Young are OK. He even finds the 6'7 shooting guard 'hilarious.'

"He's hilarious. He's really cool," said Lin. "Just out of respect for him, eight years in, if he wants me to call him Swaggy P, I guess I will."

With the Jeremy Lin Lakers now carved in stone, Linsanity fans hope that the former Harvard University standout will learn a lot from Steve Nash. That's what Lin exactly feels.

"I just think that there is so much to learn that for him to have the career that he's had, it's a no brainer to soak up as much information as you can."
