"Wrecking Ball" singer Miley Cyrus might want to go to jail to visit her MTV Video Music Awards date Jesse Helt for being sentenced to be jailed for six months.
According to NBC News, Helt got six months in jail for violating probation due to his arrest in 2010. He would have to devote six months in jail in Polk County, Oregon.
Helt is commonly known for his appearance at MTV VMA in August, wherein he was Miley's date. In behalf of the singer, he accepted the award for Miley Cyrus' "Wrecking Ball" music video.
NBC News wrote: "Although his attorney Whitney Boise gave an impassioned plea on his behalf - detailing Helt's difficult upbringing, his hard life in Los Angeles, and his efforts to contribute to society - Judge Monte S. Campbell was unmoved."
In a statement to the court, Helt reportedly said he "like(s) to be viewed as a good person."
It could be remembered that at the MTV VMA, Helt took advantage of the stage to air his cause.
He said: "I am accepting this award on behalf of the 1.6 million runaways and homeless youth in the United States who are starving, lost, and scared for their lives right now," Helt said. "I know this because I am one of these people.
"I've survived in shelters all over... Though I may have been invisible to you in the streets, I have a lot of the same dreams that brought many of you here tonight.
"A dream you dream alone is only a dream. A dream you dream together is reality."
His date, the "Wrecking Ball" singer, shared to her Twitter followers: "People who are homeless have lived very hard lives. Jesse included. I hope that this can be the start of a national conversation about youth homelessness and how to end it. Does looking down upon the homeless help people excuse their inaction?"
