"American Horror Story" will reportedly get a spin-off series. The anthology series, which will be called "American Crime Story" has been announced and will kick off with a 10-part drama called "The People v. O.J. Simpson." Each season will reportedly take on a different publicized crime.

The first season of "American Crime Story" was announced by a spokesperson for FX on Tuesday but no further details were given apart from its production date which will begin early next year in Los Angeles.

"Glee" and "American Horror Story" creator Ryan Murphy will direct the new anthology. The TV story, which will reportedly be based on Jeffrey Toobin's book "The Run of His Life: The People v. O.J. Simpson," will be penned by Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski.

According to a report from Entertainment Weekly, apart from Murphy, Alexander and Karaszewski, the show will be executive produced by Brad Falchuck, Brad Simpson, Nina Jacobson, Dante Di Lorento.

In a statement, Murphy shared his thoughts and expectations about his new venture. "This is an exciting project for me," he said. "I've been looking for the right property which could serve as an extension of the 'American Horror Story' brand I love so much. The O.J. Case was as tragic as it was fascinating - it seemed like everyone had a stake in the outcome. It was really the beginning of the modern tabloid age."

Fox Television Group chairmen and CEOs Dana Walden and Gary Newman also issued a statement about the project, saying: "When Ryan has a passion for a project, our entire company is energized by his enthusiasm and spectacular talent. Nothing is more exciting than starting a juicy, new franchise with him, and the team behind-the-scenes is top notch - a 'dream team' that rivals any ever assembled."

"American Crime Story" will reportedly be told in the perspective of the lawyers assigned on the case.
