Another newcomer has broken into the US Billboard Hot 11 as Meghan Trainor's "All About that Bass" stays put in No. 1. The American singer talks about her breakthrough in the music scene and why this song could've been another Beyoncé hit.
The 20-year-old musician who hails from Massachusetts is new in the music industry. Although coming from a music family, Meghan Trainor "All About that Bass" has already released two albums under her name: "I'll Sing with You" and "Only 17" both in 2011. These albums were released through digital download under an independent label. Although she has acquired a number followers for her work, it isn't until "All About that Bass" that Meghan Trainor gained recognition worldwide.
As Meghan Trainor's "All About that Bass" song continues to skyrocket, haters have appeared online, branding the upcoming artist as "ant-feminist."
According to TheDailyBeast, Trainor was asked about her critics and her reaction towards people saying that "All About that Bass" isn't at all about positive body image.
In the interview she says, "They say the song is about putting skinny girls down or that girls need guys' approval, but I just wrote a little three-minute pop song about how I felt about my body. I just write the way I talk, and I write about things I've experienced."
While her detractors continue in the attempt to pull her down, Meghan Trainor's "All About that Bass" remains in its top ranking position.
When asked about her thoughts on the success of the single, she talks with Time and shares, "I think it's the message and the lyrics and how it sounds different from everything that's on the radio - I think that helped a lot. When we pitched it to labels, they would say, 'You have to re-produce it.' At first it was kind of heartbreaking, but the fact that [record executive] L.A. Reid mastered it and put it out as-is is an 'ah-ha!' for us. We didn't have to change it to sound poppy or sound different."
According to reports, "All About that Base" has been pitched to a couple of top divas, even Beyoncé herself and all turned it down. Meghan Trainor grabbed the opportunity et voila! No treble.
