Modern family actress Sarah Hyland has been granted a three year restraining order from her former boyfriend Matthew Prokop. The Los Angeles Superior Court had revealed and confirmed with Us Weekly.
Hyland's been issued all the protections she requested, according to TMZ. Her former beau should stay a hundred yards from her, her house, her dog, cannot go near her workplace, not own a gun, and not attack or threaten to harm her dog in any way.
Us Weekly was able to obtain the court documents. In the documents, the actress claimed that Prokop had verbally abused her and at one time, choked her with a "grip so tight that [she] could not breathe or speak."
According to Hyland, after she broke up with Prokop, he "relentlessly bombarded [her] with vile, threatening and emotionally disturbing texts and voicemails including his own suicide threats," Prokop also threatened to burn her house down and harm her dog.
Sarah Jane Hyland, 23, rose to prominence on her role as the oldest sibling of the Dunphy Family, Haley Dunphy, on the ABC sitcom Modern Family. She, together with the rest of the show's cast won the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series.
In 2009, Hyland began dating Matthew Prokop. Both met while auditioning for High School Musical 3: Senior Year. In 2011 until 2014, the couple lived together. Hyland also co-starred with Prokop in the Disney Channel original movie Geek Charming.
On September this year, Hyland was granted a temporary restraining order against Prokop after he assaulted as well as threatened the actress. The court documents also noted Prokop's stint in rehab.
Matt Prokop, 24, is an American actor known for playing Jimmie "The Rocket Man" Zara in High School Musical 3: Senior Year.
Hyland and Prokop has been together for five years.
Hyland's lawyer from CTSC Law, also said in a statement that the "documents filed speak for themselves."
