American television host and actor Mario Lopez has just revealed details of one of the most infamous celebrity breakups that we all knew.
Lopez disclosed in his new memoir, Just Between Us, the exact details on what went wrong in his relationship with former 1996 Miss USA and model-actress Ali Landry.
Lopez, 40, has appeared on numerous television series, movies and also on Broadway. He rose to prominence when he played the character A.C. Slater on Saved By The Bell. Since then, the actor became a host for entertainment news magazine show Extra and America's Best Dance Crew for MTV. He co-hosted the second season of The X Factor USA version with Khloe Kardashian and on the third season, he became the sole host.
On April 2004, Lopez married model-actress Ali Landry in a Catholic ceremony at the Las Alamandas resort outside Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Before the marriage, the couple dated for six years.
A couple of weeks later, their marriage was annulled.
Lopez met Landry at the 1998 Miss Teen USA pageant where he was a host and she was serving as a commentator.
According to Lopez, "I thought this was the girl. If I wrote down the criteria of what I wanted in a wife and a mother - back then - she seemed to be it."
The actor continued about Landry's plans for the future saying, "When we finally got back together after the last breakup, that's when she gave the ultimatum. Either we would move forward - get married - or she was going to leave me.' He continued, "My instincts screamed that I didn't need to rush while my more critical voice barked that it was a manly choice to commit and begin a family."
Then there was his bachelor party and the groom-to-be got a little friendly with a young lady. He realized afterwards that he wasn't in love.
But he decided to walk down the aisle and said "I do."
A few days after their marriage, Lopez had worked out of town and when he came back, his wife confronted him on his bachelor party - which he didn't tell her about.
The actor then said,"She asked me to leave, so I did."
He continued, "Then I had an epiphany. I didn't want to save our marriage. The foundation wasn't there. I finally got the balls to say, 'I'm sorry. I can't be in that marriage. It's not right for either of us.'"
Until now, the two are still not friendly with each other.
