Kanye West New Album Is 'Like A Pair Of Timberlands' Says Co-Writer; Record To Include 20 Songs?

| By

Kanye West's new album will reportedly be different from his latest "Yeezus." The unnamed record, according to its co-writer, "is like a pair of Timberlands."

While likening a music record to a pair of shoes appears to be odd, G.O.O.D. Music veteran Malik Yusef described Kanye West's new album as having the same feel as the popular line of shoes. "Like how Timberlands are not quite leather and not quite suede," said Yusuf in an interview with Rolling Stone magazine. "It's not the smooth, slick Chicago music sound we have right now and it's not the ruggedness of just 'hip-hop hip-hop hip-hop.' We're still working like a motherfucker. We've been all around the world [recording]."

No other information was given about the album but Yusuf shared that they have worked on 20 songs for it and that the experience in producing the new record was smoother than it was with "Yeezus."

In September, musician Theopilus London corrected his previous announcement saying he'd already listened to the new record. On his Twitter account, London said: "[It] isn't finished for all you Hypebeast bloggers out there writing for your magazine blogs."

London previously posted that West had a private listening party, saying: "I only remember Kanye playing his new album three times in a dark room of 20 people last night and moshing drunk with mad babes haha."

In an interview with GQ magazine in July, West shared that he was hoping for a September release for his new record but not later than that. "I was thinking [the record] could somehow come out in June, like 'Yeezus,' and just kill it for the summer," he said. "But then I'm like, I have to work on Adidas and be with my child."

A low quality version of "All Day," the first single from Kanye West's new album, was leaked in August but was immediately removed.
